Evidence first. Labels matter.
India 1947 – Till Today is an independent educational archive. Our purpose is to make India’s public record easier to find, compare and question—not to decide what readers should believe.
How a claim becomes publishable.
The strongest claims connect the primary record with clearly labelled, independent context.
Source hierarchy
Primary public records
Parliament, Election Commission, constitutional offices, Census of India, CAG, courts, official gazettes, state budgets, economic surveys and authorised agencies.
Research, archives and reporting
Peer-reviewed research, parliamentary-library publications, recognised archival collections, reputable data institutions and established news reporting may provide context when a primary source is incomplete. Significant reporting claims are attributed and corroborated where practical.
Unsourced claims
Social-media posts, unattributed claims, political slogans and anonymous screenshots are not treated as factual evidence.
How we label the public record
| Label | What it means here | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| Official result | A published result or record from the responsible public authority. | A permanent record immune from later correction or by-election. |
| Audit observation | An audit institution recorded an issue, process failure or estimate. | A criminal conviction or proof that every amount estimated was lost. |
| Allegation / investigation | A complaint, FIR, inquiry or agency investigation is documented. | A finding of guilt. |
| Charge framed | A court has formally framed a charge or a comparable procedural stage is reached. | A final conviction. |
| Conviction | A court entered a conviction, with appeal status shown where available. | That every related person or allegation was proved. |
| Acquittal / closure | A court acquitted, an agency closed the matter, or proceedings ended as stated by the record. | That the underlying history should be erased or that a separate proceeding had the same result. |
Historical and statistical care
Dates and officeholders
We distinguish a person from an uninterrupted term. Repeat administrations, acting appointments, resignations and President’s Rule are shown separately where possible.
Constituencies
India’s first general election was held in 1951–52. Constituencies can be created, abolished, renamed or redrawn, so an electoral history identifies predecessor seats and delimitation breaks when known.
State comparisons
GSDP, population and development series must identify base-year revisions, financial-year boundaries and state reorganisation. Uttar Pradesh comparisons flag the 2000 creation of Uttarakhand.
Corrections and updates
Readers can submit a correction with a secure primary-source link. A submission is private and does not edit the website automatically. Editorial review checks the cited record, updates the page when warranted, and records a new verification date for time-sensitive items.
Comments are also moderated before public display. We do not publish personal attacks, doxxing, unsupported allegations, hate speech, impersonation or material that creates a legal or safety risk.

Independence and transparency
This site is not affiliated with the Government of India, Parliament, a political party, an elected representative or a public agency. A source link is evidence, not endorsement. When the evidence is uncertain, incomplete, contested or time-sensitive, the page should say so plainly.
News and archive research desk
Our curated archive list includes long-running newspapers, PTI and ANI, with rules for using reporting beside primary public records.
Political-party records
Party recognition, symbols, constitutions, organisational elections, splits and mergers require a dated Election Commission record wherever possible.
Public-accountability cases
Case packets separate a public claim from an audit, investigation and court outcome. A packet is published only when its specific status has a direct, dated record.
