Indigenous institutions, heritage and nature

Sixth Schedule

The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council governs much of the State’s Scheduled Areas under the Sixth Schedule. Community, language, land and representation questions require constitutional and district-council records.

Heritage

Unakoti is on India’s UNESCO Tentative List, not the World Heritage List. Neermahal, Ujjayanta Palace and Pilak belong to different architectural and archaeological records.

Forests and wildlife

Sepahijala and Trishna sanctuaries, Clouded Leopard and Rajbari national parks, wetlands and forest-dependent livelihoods need site-specific legal boundaries and management records.

Peace and civic movements

The 1988 Tripura Accord, insurgencies, surrenders, electoral mobilisation and later peace processes are separately dated. Indigenous rights, migration, language and displacement cannot be reduced to one narrative.

Audits and public accountability

CAG reports on State finances, revenue, compliance, performance, public-sector undertakings and local bodies are attached to their audited periods and government replies. Welfare delivery, infrastructure, forest diversion and procurement claims require report-level evidence.

Political allegation, audit observation, inquiry, charge, judgment and appeal remain separate statuses.
