Jammu and Kashmir elects 90 MLAs and five Lok Sabha members. Delimitation changed constituency boundaries between 2014 and 2024, so seat comparisons require that break.
The present UT’s 20 districts had about 12.27 million residents in the 2011 Census when recast without Ladakh. Agriculture and horticulture, tourism, handicrafts, construction, public services and trade are major livelihood frames. GSDP, visitor arrivals, employment surveys, budgets and audited expenditure remain separate measures.
Mughal gardens, temples, mosques, shrines, forts, crafts and vernacular landscapes carry distinct protection statuses. The Mughal Gardens are on India’s UNESCO Tentative List, not the World Heritage List.
The Jhelum, Chenab and Tawi basins, Wular and Hokersar wetlands, Himalayan forests and protected areas require site-specific ecological and disaster records.
Militancy, counter-insurgency, civilian harm, displacement including Kashmiri Pandit migration, detention, elections and cross-border violence require incident-level attribution and legal-status discipline.
Jammu, Kashmir Valley, Pir Panjal and Chenab regions contain diverse linguistic, religious, pastoral and tribal communities. Gujjar, Bakerwal, Pahari and other identities cannot be treated as one category.
