What this project is

India 1947 – Till Today is a free, non-partisan public archive that brings together verified records of India's political history, constitutional governance, economic milestones, people's movements, and democratic institutions — all in one place, open to everyone.

We cover every state and Union Territory, all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, the major political parties, significant protests and social movements, the accountability record of governments, and the broader economic and cultural arc of the Republic since Independence.

Independence & editorial principles

This project has no political affiliation, no party backing, and no advertiser. It is not funded by any government body, political organisation, or corporate interest. Our only commitment is to primary sources — official records, government statistics, Election Commission data, Census figures, parliamentary documents, court judgments, and reputable academic and journalistic archives.

When a fact is contested or uncertain, we say so. When a source is unavailable or unverifiable, we do not include the claim. Our methodology is published openly — see How We Verify →
